A family business. A sweet experience.

For nearly three decades The Sweet Hyper has been where Johannesburg South stocks up — and where a lot of small businesses got their start.

  1. 1997

    From Germiston to Lenasia

The family moves the business to the edge of Lenasia, in the heart of Johannesburg South. The prices travel fast — soon customers come from all over South Africa and beyond its borders.

  2. De Deur

    Sweet Hyper Express

Wholesale moves closer to more customers with the Express in De Deur, on the Main Road at Walker Fruit Farms.

  3. 2024

    A Mega in Sandton

The Sweet Hyper Mega opens in Woodmead Value Mart: retail and wholesale under one roof, open seven days.

  4. Oct 2025

    28 years, and a documentary

We turn 28 and tell the story through our customers: spaza owners, students and families who started something with a trolley from us.

  5. Nov 2025

Lenz Quarter opens with a carnival

The new Mega at Lenz Quarter opens with games, giveaways, rainbow arches — and Pengo Gelato with a chocolate fountain inside the store.

More than a sweet store
